USB 2.0 ExpressCard - Treat it like a Bus-powered USB Hub Instead?

Nearly all notebooks recently shipping have shed CardBus and replaced it with ExpressCard. Since MacBook Pro line with only ExpressCard 34 slot is doing so well in retail, this gives incentive for OEMs to design cards for the smaller 34 instead of the tad larger 54 slots. DragonSteelMods has given a look at this Quad USB 2.0 ExpressCard/34 from Apiotek. In the test, the card was primarily evaluated on the MacBook Pro. The laptop with only 2 USB ports surely need more of these for stuff beyond a mouse and a gamepad. The Apiotek card has two rows of two USB 2.0 ports and a side jack for a power adapter, which is conveniently not included. The only grip was that the card didn't secure in the slot and can easily pop out while in use. Perhaps someone forgot to install the locking clip? We say if you pick a similar product, try to treat it as a bus-powered USB hub since an AC adapter isn't always at your disposal to provide you with enough juice for all high-powered gadgets.
