Apple recently filed a patent for a charge prevention system that would prevent their costly gadgets like the iPhone and iPod from charging up on non-approved charge cables. This means that if some thief rips off your precious iPhone he wouldn’t be able to charge it up once it ran down. The part I don’t get about this is how exactly it’s going to keep someone from stealing your iPhone. Keeping it from charging back up doesn’t get it back to you now does it. Plus what if you loose or break your original charge cable? Or what if you want to charge at a friend’s house on another charge cable? Also, if you are on the road with your charge cables as well, this anti-theft method will do nothing for you if someone steals the whole kit.
