2-year-old iPod nano Catches Fire in Guy's Pocket

An Atlanta man, Danny Williams, working at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is claiming that his iPod nano caught fire in his pocket. The nearly 2-year old iPod nano uses the same sort of Lithium-ion battery that many of the major notebook makers had to recall last year due to fire and explosion hazards.

Williams says that the flames lasted about 15 seconds and reached up to his chest. The nano was apparently in the waist pocket of his clothes at the time. Williams is quoted by MacWorld as saying, “TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist.” I’m betting during flaming incident his words were more OMG! WTF! Apple reportedly sent Williams an envelope to return the device with and no official comment from Apple has been made at this time.
