Apple iPod Touch (aka. iPhone sans Phone, iTablet)

  September 7th, 2007

The iPod touch is perhaps the most revolutionary since the mechanical-wheel iPod; that is, if Apple didn't release iPhone earlier. The tablet device is basically a iPhone without the GSM radio and the earpiece. You could say Apple finally grants the wish of iTablet fanboys.

The iPod touch as you can imagine works virtually identical to iPhone, sharing the multi-touch interface, 3.5" 480x320 widescreen and WiFi 802.11b/g on the hardware department. On the software side, the iPod touch also includes Safari, YouTube, calculator, contacts, clock and calendar in addition to music, photo & video. Apple also used this opportunity to introduce iTunes WiFi Music store. The most notable omissions however are Bluetooth and Google Map.

The battery will last up to 22 hours for audio and 5 for video playback. Charge time through USB is about 3 hours. The battery is still unfortunately non-user replaceable. Multi-lanaguage is supported from Chinese to Norwegian since iPod touch will become available worldwide by the end of this month for $399 (16GB) and $299 (8GB).
