Apple 2007 Slim-line USB Keyboard (and a Bluetooth KB sans Numpad)

  August 8th, 2007

Now that we all learned of the new glossy iMac, Apple also released a ultra-slim keyboard to go with the revamped all-in-one. The all new anodized aluminum enclosure is just 0.33" thin at its front edge. The keys are not curved like they used to before; in fact, the general consensus is that Apple might have taken a page from MacBook's keyboard design, which avoids dust clogging the gap.

The eject, volume and mute are relocated to share with the function keys, and Apple finally added dedicated controls for media, screen brightness and expose. A USB port is found at each end of the tilted base providing Hi-Speed USB expansion for stuff like iPod, Mighty Mouse and etc. Desktop Macs will all come from this wired keyboard from now on. You can also drop $49 to upgrade.

For those who like to free themselves from cable clutter, there's a wireless numpad-less version in Bluetooth for $79, but number crunching folks have to shell out for a discrete number pad.
