Archos 105 Targets Sub-$100 DAP Market

  August 13th, 2007

WE RECOMMEND

While Archos is prepping the launch of its 605, 405 & 705 feature-bloated PMP, it's also busy bringing out its new 2GB flash-based DAP for the slim media player market. Dubbed as Archos 105 by the rumor site, the $90 iPod nano sized player is the lowest end of the Archos' arsenal of PMP, and also put it in direct competition with Toshiba Gigabeat U202 and alike.

It will measure at 1.8" x 3.3" x 0.3" and weigh at 1.8 oz. Its integrated 2GB with provision of expansion slot will store MP3, protected WMA, WAV (PCM) in addition to JPEG and WMV (160 x 128 @ 25fps). The front of the 105 is dominated by the 1.8" OLED. A power button and a pill-sized button surrounded by four way direction control are sitting beneath the screen. Look for the 105, available in red, silver and black, at around September.
