ARCHOS Gmini XS 100 is touted as the smallest in the company's line-up of portable audio, measuring just 3.6" x 1.7" x 0.5" and weighing at 2.8 oz. The XS 100 somewhat resembles Apple iPod mini with its 4 color choices (black, pink, blue, silver), placement of buttons and the vertical orientation. It also adds 'shuffle playlist', which is more sophisticated than Apple iPod shuffle, since the ARCHOS has a 1.7" gray-scale LCD screen for menu navigations.
The storage capacity is 3GB or enough for 1500 songs, which sounds a bit odd as no one has a product with the same capacity yet. Presumably, the miniature hard drive is from Cornice, a company that has a long history of manufacturing 1-inch hard drive for portable electronics.
The Gmini XS 100 will be available for $179.95 in June; it will come with carrying case, lanyard and USB 2.0 cable.Filed under MP3 Players
