- Stanton T.90 USB Turntable Review

Audio-Technica demoed their entry into the USB turntable market as CES, showing off the AT-LP2D-USB to the gear-lust-stricken public in Las Vegas. The turntable, which has an MSRP of $229, features the sort of features you'd want in a high-end USB turntable: 33 and 45 rpm turntable speeds, balanced aluminum platter, precision stylus cartridge, soft damping control pickup arm, USB connection and a switchable phono to line out amplifier for use with a variety of standard amplifiers. The turntable comes with copies of Cakewalk PYRO and Audacity for recording your LPs onto your computer. The AT-LP2D-USB's aluminum platter and higher price point indicate that Audio-Technica is aiming their new product at the higher end market, represented by turntables like the Stanton T.90, and not lower end products like the ION Audio TTUSB10, with a price advantage to Audio-Technica coming from the lack of DJ features that the T.90 also includes. What surprises us is the inclusion of Cakewalk PYRO; it seems to us that Audio-Technica could gain another advantage over Stanton in the minds of consumers by including a more powerful software package. - Get Audio-Technica AT-LP2D-USB LP-to-Digital Recording System - turntable now for $86.95 at Beach Camera
