Blue Ships Snowball Studio USB Microphone

  October 12th, 2005

Thinking of making your own PodCast? To set the record straight, if there's a constant analog hiss in the background, quite a few people won't be downloading your next one. If you're serious about podcasting on the other hand, well you need a decent microphone. There's a bunch of studio mics out there, but we happen to like Blue's Snowball because, well, it's USB.

The Snowball Mic works like any other USB microphone - just plug it in and it works, but the main difference is it's quality. It can pick up things most microphones can't thanks to the 40-18000Hz frequency response range. There's three different modes to choose from to get the perfect pickup too, with cardioid, cardioid and a -10db pad, and omnidirectional. Expect to find it at your local instrument store for about $155. Oh here's the manual if you are keen on learning more about the SnowBall.
