BMW Sports Jammin' 1GB MP3 Sunglasses

  September 27th, 2005

WE RECOMMEND
Cheaper than the Oakley THUMP, and perhaps even more unsightly, BMW has sworn to protect your eyes and damage your ears simultaneously with their new BMW MP3 Sunwear. Just please, PLEASE remember that although these are made by an automotive manufacturer, they're not for the road - it's illegal to drive with stereo headsets.

While certainly not the first MP3 sunglasses to hit the market, BMW certainly has some advantages over the competition. First and foremost, they come in 512MB and 1GB capacities for $295 and $395 respectively. Oakleys on the other hand cost $395 for a 256MB and $495 for 512MB, so BMW's cost per megabyte is much more reasonable.

The BMW MP3 Sunwear glasses are also outfitted with a voice recorder using the ADPCM codec, great for taking quick notes when a pen and paper aren't so handy. A lithium ion battery can keep the tunes playing for 15 hours before needing to be recharged. Supported file formats are MP3 and WMA (non-DRM), both of which can be uploaded via a USB connection to any PC or Mac, including OS 9 users.
