Canon's new all in one printer/scanner/photo/copier/fax/bulk document handler the PIXMA MX330 has more functions than you will probably ever use but it sure will be fun to try. Beyond the normal multifunction features Canon has added a new feature that will make it stand out from the rest. It has a dual function USB port that has traditionally been for attaching to cameras for direct to printer photo printing. The MX330 adds direct to USB flash drive document scanning. Just insert a flash drive or a memory card and you can send PDF and jpeg image scans directly to the drive. This could finally cut the cord completely and allow placement in any convenient locations than your already crowded desk. This should cut down on trips to unpack it, load it, hook it up to the network, test the connection, etc... Use the LCD to change format or settings and it can very easily function without a computer if necessary. Canon hasn't released any information on what file systems it can write to but the press release mentions PC and Mac support so there's at least decent hope it will support enough file systems for everyone's needs. - Get Canon Pixma MX330 now for $99.99 at Newegg.com
