Not to be outdone by newcomers to the game, Canon has unveiled its entrant into the tough camera race. 12 mega-pixels and water-proof to 10m, the PowerShot D10 is ready for the woods and the wild. Besides the whooping mega-pixels, the camera brings along Canon's newest and smartest picture snapping and image processing internals. The "Auto" function, that used to just mean shutter and aperture control (back when cameras were made of wood), now includes scene detection, auto exposure, subject and camera motion detection and blink detection. Motion detection is coupled with Canon's respectable lens shift image stabilization. And if that combination wasn't enough to put the competition on the mat, its also shock proof and will function at temperatures as low as -10° Celsius. With its generous 2.5 inch outdoor-optimized LCD screen (which also has a ruggedized coating) it may be a bit too large for your front pocket but it should make a perfect fit in your backpack or ski gear (water or snow variety). Some of the D10's other features are bit bland with only 35mm wide angle and 640x480 maximum resolution videos when others are going wider and 720p HD video. - Get Canon PowerShot D10 now for $319.99 at TigerDirect.com
