Cinea Portable Video Key Secures Portable Content

  July 19th, 2006

WE RECOMMEND
Cinea Portable Video Key Secures Portable ContentMovie studios have a new tool to fight pirates that get their hands on rough cut films and digital dailies. Digital content protected with the service can only be played back on a PC that has the USB key plugged into it. If lost or stolen the device can also be remotely disconnected.

Cinea has a method of using the USB port on a computer to allow access to or deny access to media both downloaded from the web and played on DVD. The technology is aimed at movie studios that distribute films that pirates would love to get hands on. The S-VIEW SV510 as the product is known, is programmed by the studio with a six to twelve digit access code. If ever lost or stolen the device is deregistered and any content old or new is unplayable.
