ClickFree Transformer for iPod, for Backing up your PC (Yeah Right!)
August 13th, 2009
ClickFree, capable maker of USB Appli-peripherals, has released a new widget that toes the line of iTunes' DRMocracy. The ClickFree Transformer for iPod is the latest device that combines USB tech with Portable Application sorcery. The Transformer is a USB passthrough adapter that allows you to plug in your iPod's USB cable into it and the Transformer plugs into your computer. Once the device is plugged in, onboard storage loads ClickFree's backup application. The [cough] primary [/cough] purpose of this is to allow you the ability to backup your enormous hard drive on to the tiny free space available on your hard drive [snort]. This is a great idea if all your important files are tiny and you keep them all in one folder. This product is pure gold if it were used on a very large hard drive, which the SE version to be released later adds to the pot. The other obscure, [fnord] please Apple's lawyers don't notice this[/fnord], feature is that when you hook it up to an iPod or iPhone you are able to copy off music and videos from your iPod onto a computer. This is all 100% legal if you are only making backup copies for your own protection. Well kinda. Good luck with the legal fees if you want to find out. This seems like it would be a ton of fun at the office or dorm to be able to iPod tune-swapping at will. Grab one quick at $49 before the cease and desist letters hit ClickFree's offices.
