Compro doesn't have a strong presence in the States, but their new VideoMate U2700 is impressive enough to make it to our front page. The U2700 like other hybrid TV tuners can grab free-to-air digital terrestrial signals while it also can tune to old analog channels. What caught our attention is the TV's ability to stream up to 4 DVB-T channels and to playback a recorded file simultaneously. Think of this as playing back 5 1080i streams. This requires at least a 3.0Ghz CPU; maybe a Duo Core will also do the job. Though, we don't think you can record more than 1 channel at a time. Another handy feature is Transport Stream support, meaning you can hit the record button and the software takes care of separating different programs in the background. On the specs list, we also spotted S3/S4 power mode which basically wakes up the PC in time for schedule recordings. Further down the list are the digital radio reception, closed-caption and Windows Vista Certification. No word on the pricing of the USB TV box. About Everything USB
