Corsair Bi-stable Cholesteric Readout Flash Drive

  July 26th, 2006

Corsair Bi-stable Cholesteric Readout Flash Drive Corsair is one of the biggest names in enthusiast RAM for PC systems. They also have a rather nice line of USB flash drives. They now have available a flash drive sporting a display that lets you see at a glance how much capacity is left on the drive.

Corsair's Flash Readout is available in both 1 GB and 2 GB capacities. The display is a Bi-stable Cholesteric Display (BCD) that can retain displayed information for a year without the use of a battery. For those looking for a more stylish display, Lexar's JumpDrive Mercury uses E ink's paper-like high contrast EPD.

Corsair claims that the drive achieves read speeds of 20 MB per second and write speeds of 7 MB per sec. You can also program the BCD with an 11 character alphanumeric label of your choice. OS compatibility is with Windows XP, 2000, and ME, as well as Linux 2.4.0 and later plus Mac OS 9, X, and later.
