Cowon iAudio 7 supersedes the 6, but instead of a facelift, the successor tosses out the 4GB 0.85" hard drive and replaces it with the more readily available 8GB NAND flash memory as storage. We have to believe Toshiba, Samsung or whoever makes the tiny hard drive has hit a barrier somehow. Regardless, the choice to move to solid-state storage doesn't help Cowon to slim down the iAudio 7 as the thickness remains the same. Crave early report hints the iAudio 7 has a rated battery life of 60 hours, or 3 times longer than its predecessor. We attribute this to a bigger battery and reduced power consumption of the components, such as OLED and decoder. Why do we care? The player supports some very rare formats like FLAC and OGG, unlike others that only bring you standard MP3, WMA and PlayforSure support. About Everything USB
