USB-to-PCMCIA Reader, for Broadband Cards

Elan has debuted a USB-to-PCMCIA card reader that may interest some of you. The bus-powered U111 card reader allows you to use Novatel Merlin Broadband Wireless PCMCIA Modem where a USB interface is available. So, you can connect to UMTS even when your laptop is running out of PC cards.

As of this writing, only Merlin 530 and 630-series are supported. These two 3G data cards are offered by Orange UK, T-Mobile Germany, Vodacom (South Africa), Hutchinson 3 (Europe), Hutchinson Wampoa (HK) and etc.

The company, however, has plans to support all major brand 16-bit PC Card and Compact Flash modem cards as well.
