Well, I bought the MS USB 802.11b adapter a few months ago. What do you want me to do?

It's not easy to find these downloads. You have to go to the actual product page first. I found the download page here:

Thanks for the reply. THis link has the driver. Is there anyway to download the Microsoft Broadband Network Utility software. I installed the driver and it says that it is working o-kay, but I still cannot connect to my wireless router. I have a Netgear router. I had the MN-510 has been working fine on one computer, but I wanted to put it on a new computer. any suggestions? I used the original software (Microsoft Broadband Network Utility ) to get it to work on the old computer.

Thanks

I'm afraid that you'll have to ask MS for the utility. It's not available for download.

Are you sure that the router and adapter are compatible?

Have you downloaded the file? I need to remove it form the site... taking up too much space on my 80GB HD.

Hi all, I have the exact same problem, can't find the CD for the Microsoft Broadband Network Utility which appears to be the only way I can set a WEP key in Win 2000 using this adapter.

I haven't had any luck finding it on the microsoft site so I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out.

If anyone knows of a download site where it is available please let me know. I can also provide an FTP site to upload to if anyone has the CD and is willing to zip it up for me.

Thank you, I appreciate any help I can get

Hi Ian,

That would be great, I suggested providing my own FTP server so to not cause any inconvenience with web space on anyone elses server. Any solution would be great, thank you!

BTW, why is it that Microsoft doesn't offer this as a download?

Ian,

Would you mind making the MSBU zip file available for download again? I tried the link you provided, and it must be a dead one...

It would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I gotta put a nail in this. It has gone on too long.

There was no Windows 2000 driver for this device when it was made - only a Win98SE driver. It is available here:

http://www.usb-drivers.com/drivers/113/113882.htm

If Windows Update doesn't have a driver, it probably isn't available for Windows 2000.

One important thing try is to let Windows search the i386 folder on the Win2K CD. Once again, if it isn't there, it's time to consider replacing the MN-510 with an adapter from a company that actually supports it - like D-Link, Linksys or Netgear. Microsoft is actually pretty bad at device driver support. It's sad, considering that Windows Update has drivers for 8 year old network adapters that were made by such famous makers as Askey, but nothing from Microsoft itself. It's pitiful...

I definitely missed this post... again.

Could anyone tell me how to consolidate the files of the CD into 1 file? I have the CD and I'm running the MN-510 on XP right now. Supposedly, this will work with 2000. I don't konw.

Dunno about MAC, but WinZip works for consolidating files in Windows.

Thank you Osirus101.

if you are trying to use,,just about any wifi and
your system seems to need the
microsoft broadband network utility that you dont have

you can sometimes cheat... from windows control panel
it is VERY manual but may work for you

goto network device list, doubleclick the wifi device
goto advanced and , you might see
ssid,network type,channel,and maybe wep
if not the settings are somewhear ,
regedit?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic
es\Class\Net

just a sugestion
