USB to HDMI Adapter Now a Reality, Kinda

USB VGA cards are great for office users that need multiple displays, but don't have any means or don't want the hassles of installing a second video card. If you want to connect to a HDMI LCD TV, you're going to need something entirely new. This is where Grand HD Cinema comes in. The external adapter basically takes 720p video as well as audio (yay!) through a Hi-Speed USB pipe to HDMI output. Better yet, Grand even claims this supports HDCP, which in other words puts Blu-ray playback on one of the potential application list.

This is by no means a home theater equipment since we don't know yet how the quality will degrade to compensate for the narrow USB bandwidth. Just see this as something that finally bridges your PC with your HDTV or projector. If you hook six of these HD Cinemas, you get the option of spanning your desktop or image up to 9660 x 720 resolution. This kind of extreme application will surely keep your quad-core very busy.
