Lone French Dude Writes 235 Linux Webcam Drivers

What happens when one lone Linux guru has some time on his hands and a few webcams that just won’t work in the open source world? He wrote drivers for them, 235 of them to be exact. This guy started his quest with a couple USB webcams bought for his daughters at Christmas which wouldn’t work with Linux. After trying to get help from the cam makers to no avail he took matters into his own hands and wrote the drivers. What he found after writing one of the drivers was that lots of the work could be shared for drivers of cameras based on other chipsets. So if you are looking to run some unsupported web cam on Linux check out his work called GSPCA or Generic Software Package for Camera Adapters.
