Security experts are warning that a worm has been found that carries a malware payload in a file claiming to be a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The worm is called the Hairy-A worm and infects the PC when users plug in USB drives. Once the USB drive is plugged in and the document is opened, only a single phrase "Harry Potter is Dead" is displayed. The worm then looks for other removable drives and tries to create new users on infected computers, which appear as characters from the Harry Potter series such as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. On logging in the batch file gives the message: 'read and repent
the end is near
repent from your evil ways O Ye folks
lest you burn in hell...JK Rowling especially'
Plus the user will find their web browser redirected to an Amazon spoof page that sells a book called "Harry Putter & the Chamber of Cheesecakes".
