"Reads good, but CDR does not write"
I have a new Inspiron 2650 laptop and added a CDR using the Adaptec USB2Connect cardbus controller. My TDK VeloCD 40x burner works great on all other systems except with my laptop (unless I connect through my 1.1 USB connections on the laptop). Found other problems from users online with similar configurations as mine (o2micro cardbus controller / NEC based USB 2.0 controller) and they had the exact same problem burning. Still working on fixing this though, so if you have had this problem e-mail me please!

"The expected problems mixed with an unexpected surprise."
As with most newer products, you can expect some problems from this card. Such as hub communication conflicts which prevent it from working properly and the fact that every time you try to remove the card (after the proper MS Windows eject protocols have been observed) the system sees a phantom PCI card which it never manages to find a driver for (Go figure)

However, this card DOES work with Linux! Yes, you heard correctly. (I had to tell the Adaptec Tech Support guy twice) I tested this card on an HP Pavilion n6395 Laptop running Redhat 7.3. ZOOOOOOMMM!

No problems at all.
