"Great device at good price"
Ok, I bought this 2nd user from someone who only had it a few days but couldn't get it working reliably. No problem I thought, I will and it's a bargain at around 60% of the new price. Worked first time, but on reboot of my Win2k laptop I found the same problems, the MP3+ couldn't be found! Damn! Anyway a visit to the Creative website and new drivers seem to have solved the problem. It works reliably and sounds very good and I have used it for a party with hundreds of MP3's playing through my hifi - nobody complained and it sounded good. Even better, a flashing blue LED looks cool! I haven't recorded from the device yet, and haven't pushed it to it's limit. Simply, MP3's play nicely and sound good when amplified. The software graphic equaliser works well but I suspect some of the functions draw on processor power and a lower range laptop may not cope. I found my Thinkpad didn't sound clear if playing from the CD drive but fine when played from the HDD. My only gripes are: the device is a little messy with trailing wires and a bracket that I felt was naturally 'upside down' - but that is a minor point and secondly, on one occasion 'shuffle play' worked fine randomly playing MP3's with no repeats over two hours or more. The next time I used it I kept getting the same tracks coming up regularly...very annoying and I'm not sure why. There were around 200 tracks to choose from.

All in all, for the price, this adds desktop soundcard quality to a laptop with a weak sound chip and adds all the recording functions, digital in/out etc. I'm not sure how many people will want that and I'm not sure how often I'll use it having a good MP3 walkman too, but I'm glad I have it.
