"Good Solid Buy"
Ok so I fell in love with this and bought it refurbished, 160 with shipping and handling included. Although I know they don't sell it for that price anymore it was a good buy when i got it. When It came time for me to restore my computer cause of problems i was having, i put all my documents on this one lil powerhouse and a few of the hardest programs to find, along with my 1000+ songs. Good buy, ipods sucks because of battery life, trust me i know. The other dude who wrote a review was wrong about the ipod dj comparison, the dj battery is superior. You have to take into account that every so often the dj's battery needs to be recalibrated as does any lithium ion powered device because the battery is never completely drained if you follow directions and charge it before it drops to a very low level.

"Dell DJ is a P.O.S.!!!"
Bought one for my wife in DEC03 as a present. In APR04 it had a Hard drive failure but was fixed under warrany, In JAN05, less than 30 days after warranty exp. it failed again. Dells response is "Too bad, pay us $239 to replace it bcuz we wont fix it". I wont buy anything else from them as I would not expect that lack of support on the same failure. Neither Hard drive lasted even 10 mo.

"THINK SMART"
For all of you that keep saying the Ipod has more accessories, remember that most of the accessories that are 3rd party accessories, can be used with any MP3 player, the Dell DJ, and even Cd players. I just find the accessory I like, and get it for the Dell DJ. The Dell DJ has GREAT sound quality, and overall is better than the Ipod. The is very limited. I just got my Dell DJ and I haven't been disappointed yet!

"dell is gay"
okay....for xmas i recieved both an apple ipod and a dell dj..i knew i had to take one back but i thot i would test them to see which one i preferred ....i put a few songs on each and rite of f teh bat when i plugged in teh ipod it seemed like it downloaded teh songs in seconds flat..no joke.. when i plugged in the dell it took a full hour to find the connection and get the songs on..one by one... finally i listened to both and i realisze that the ipods quality is alot better ..so i switched teh headphones just to make sure and still teh same......also teh ipod is alot more entertaining..i no i mostly use it for music but with features like time and games and almost anything i preferred it over the boring stature of th edell... also teh click wheel on the ipod is much more easy to use...while the scroll wheel on teh dell is very hard to scroll with for over 5 seconds and i found my hands hurting....i would have to recommend teh ipod due to teh dell sucking..delll wouldnt take teh damn thign back and i ended up selling it for 36 dollars on ebay.....but my ipod is the best thing i own so make sure u dont get the dell or ur stcuk with it....dell can kiss my ass

"DJ has its advantages"
I got an Ipod for christmas, my friend got a DJ. After compairing the two on battery life, song capacity, and of course compatibility. As far as battery life the dj had 45 minutes extra. Song capacity on the two was different. The iPod and iTunes use AAC. For you windows users this means better quality. Once the songs were MP3s the results were equal. As for compaitability the iPod comes in first. It has so many other things that you can do with it. From speakers to Gucci bags it has the most third party devices.

"at 4 hours of use a day the battery will last 4.5 years without replacing"
the dell dj is worth more than ipod even thought the price does not reflect it. if you want a high quality low cost mp3 player with tons of features go with the dj. and as far as battery life, at 4 hours of use a day the battery will last 4.5 years without replacing, and when it comes time to replace it, the cost is 1/8 the cost of the replacement battery for the ipod. as well as you get your machine back, not a different unit that could have new bug to be worked out. so all i have to say is Dell Fucking Rocks Ass. The ipod fad is dead!!!!

"dell dj kills ipod"
i think that the dell dj will be so cool. i have a dell laptop and its cool so i know the dell dj will be cool. i havent used one yet, but i used a display ipod at the store. i dont like it. it took me 10 minutes to learn how to use the wheel and even after that it was hard to control it. it cost 50 dollars more than a dell dj, holds less songs, less battery life. the only thing i give to the ipod is that it is more popular than the dell dj, more accessories, and buy in store. but even with all that the dell dj kills it. i will tell u why it is better to get a dell dj than an ipod. a 40 gb ipod holds 10,000 songs ($400)a dell dj 20 gb holds 9,990 songs (10 less)($250). which one do you think is a better deal? it is easy to see its the dell dj. if there was a 40 gb dell dj it would hold up to 19,980 songs. your stupid if u buy that expensive ipod i plan on ordering a dell dj 20 this week i would have got it for christmas but we didnt have much money left after all of the gifts we bought for family and friends. please get a dell dj (whatever size fits u) dont waste your money on an ipod just because its popular. duh in a little while the dell dj will be more popular than the ipod and everyone who bought an ipod will feel stupid that they wasted their money.

"Dell Music DJ is great!"
I recently got the Dell Music DJ (20 GB) for Christmas, and I highly reccomend it to anyone. It is very simple to use, and besides what other people have said, the software is also easy to use. All you do to put a CD on is load into the drive, click the button to copy to the computer and then click the button to import to the player. I've put a lot of my CDs on it already, and the quality is excellent.

From Caryn, December 28, 2004

"Poor quality sound"
So the dell dj claims to haold more music that apple's ipod, but consider the facts. They are saying the music is at 64kbps which is pretty crappy actually. The ipod holds music at mp3 quality which sounds so much better. Besides the sound issue...there are so many more accessories made for the ipod and apple's service is top of the line. If your dell dj breaks where do you take it for repair....the Ipod can be taken to any apple store for repair! Ipod all the way baby!

"pretty darn good"
i am going to get a dell DJ because my friend has one.. he let me play around with it for a while, and its great. i knew nothing about it when i saw it, and i knew everything after about an hour. it integrates with WMP perfectly, so you dont need to use any complicated software.

"Dell DJ Rocks"
I picked up the 15gig model for $149.99 with free shipping so feel free to envy me. It holds the same amount of music using WMA format as a 30gig Ipod and yes WMA does sound better than mp3. The battery lasts a loooong time and despite what the uninformed keep whining about, you can drag and drop as well as cut and past using explorer. The girlfriend has ordered the 5gig baby since she can't keep her hands off mine.

From Hector, November 14, 2004

""IT IS WORTH IT""
Jack Meoff is fucking stupid. the ipods cant even hold WMA songs and have low batery life. they come with realy crappy head phones and they break easly. the dells have a long battery life and you can store computer softwares on a dell. i dont see why you need 40GB when the dells have 20 and thats a perfict amount. also apples suck ASS!!!!!!!! so Jack Meoff can suck my dick. by the way Jack Meoff is fucking old.

"Even if money was no object!"
I am not a huge music fan but i love gagets. I shoped arround before purchasing my Dell DJ15G and i think it's great! I have tried apple's ipod but i truely belive the Dell DJ is better then Ipod even if money was no object! Even then it's $100 cheaper. Dell have an award winning service and really that's all it matters when you are purchasing an entertainment unit. U want quality and satisfaction not nessaryly looks (always) It is a little bigger and havier then the ipod but the clarity is great and the recording option kills the calender and alarm options on the ipod because these days we all carry a cell fone.

From Moiz Bhamani, August 25, 2004

"Still not worth it!!"
One other thing about the iPOD. It's dependable. I had a 8lbs speaker fall from a height of 4 feet onto my iPOD. The speaker was from a stereo system and it was heavy duty. The speaker cover was a metal mesh plate and it was caved in after crashing onto my iPOD. The iPOD had a scratch on the upper left corner. That was 4 months ago and the iPOD still works like a champ. I've had my iPOD for one year now and it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I reccomend this product as a high value, long lasting, durable, dependable product.

From jack meoff, July 31, 2004

"Not worth it!!"
The iPOD is so much better than the Dell. First off, Dell does not have "award winning" products. Secondly, although MAC isn't great the iPOD is the best creation they've ever made. It small portable and more sleek than the Dell and you can get a better selection on iPOD from APPLE. Not only is the iPOD great for storing music, but for anything else. I own a 40GB iPOD that I use daily. I own 325 CDs, yes I am one of the few who actually buys albums, and at the rate I'm going the Dell won't be able to hold all my music. The iPOD has better features and better accessories. It is also the most highly praised MP3 by just about any journalist in PC mags.
Bottom line, if you want a quality MP3, go with the iPOD. You won't be sorry.
