"Ditto on the lack of customer service" I too had my Karma lock up on me, only to have their tech service from India tell me they would send me a replacement for another $200. Just when I was about to pitch my $350 paper weight, I decided to smack it around a little. I figured it would either come apart, or come back to life. Fortunately, it came back to life after rapping it on the side of my desk a few times. It is working fine for now, but who knows how long that will last. If I had it to do all over again, I would spend the extra $50 and buy the Ipod. I wrote to the President of Rio, the VP of Sales, and the VP of Engineering and never got a responce. I will never buy another Rio product again and neither should you. From Kurt Amundsen, October 26, 2004

"unstable player and rotten support" I purchased my rio karma in January '04. One day after four months of use, it locked-up on the start-up screen and has remained there since. As you can read from the reviews below, rio essentially has no customer support. In addition, they only honor a 90 day warranty on their players. Its a policy that reflects a lack of faith in their own products. You'll be better off buying a player from a respected name. From Jim, June 12, 2004
"Horrible Customer Service" I wanted to make everyone aware of the fact that I have received horrible customer service from RioKarma and you should be aware of this before considering a purchase. I bought the unit on December 17, 2003. The LCD screen went defective at the end of January. I could not return the unit to the manufacturer because it was past the 30 days. I sent the unit back to RioKarma (I had to pay for shipping). They received the unit in early February. It is now March and I have not received a replacement unit because they are in backorder. In addition, they can't tell me when I will receive a replacement (it could be several months). In addition, the unit that I will receive will not be a new unit, but will be a refurbished unit that someone else returned. It is unclear what kind of warranty I will receive on the replacement unit. My recommendation--pay the extra money and buy the IPOD. From Michael, March 01, 2004
