"Big Problem" This camera is pushed with 1280*960 resolution. After speakign with 2 Logitech tech support guys. I have been given two different stories as why I have been unable to get anything more than 640*480 out of it. Both stories were unacceptable as excuse and one of the guys said that the product packaging was misleading. I tested both way given to me to try and get 1280*960 out of it and neither worked. The product instructions state that the camera shoots at 640*480 only and is not adjustable. One techie said this is true but via the bundled software it can be converted to 1280*960. Most imaging software can do this and the result is always less then it would have been had the pic been actually shot at the higher res. the other said that the cam can shot at the higher res but only when attached to the computer and adjusted via the software...tested and this is not correct.
End result...a 640*480 camera for a 1280*960 price.
Im thinking that a packaging recall is in order. From Trevor, August 28, 2003
"fuzzy photos!" I am a complete newbie as this is my first digital camera -- and probably my last until I can afford a much better camera. My brand new ClickSmart 420 works great and would be lots of fun except that my photos, especially those taken at more than a couple of feet, are impossibly fuzzy. Quite unusable. I thought perhaps I was causing the problem, so I set up my camera on my balcony and took some photos of the building across the street. Fuzzy. I guess this camera would do to take closeups for Ebay but that's all. Am I wrong? From barbara, June 06, 2003
"Worth the money" I found the ClickSmart 420 quite by accident and decided to try it based on the name Logitech. So far I am not disappointed. This is not my first webcam or digital. I installed it on two computers, one with WindowsME and one with WindowsXP. It works perfect on each. One plus feature you won't find on any camera of this price range is the flash. Indoor pictures can be just as good as outdoor. Keep in mind this is a 1.3 megapixel camera so don't expect more than that. Good lighting and a steady hand can produce a good picture. Well worth the $100 I paid for it. From Glen, February 21, 2003
"Great First Time Digital Camera!" Works great as a D-Camera but it isnt the best, But its great for any one with a low budget. I Havent Tried the Webcam Aspect of it yet, because it seems that in order for it to work as a web cam you will need a seperate Microphone and WIndows XP. Thats the only downfall, you need to buy a 150 doller OS, in order to use a 100 doller digital camera. Other then that downfall I love the camera. I recommend this to all people who have had little or no experience for a digital camera. From A 16 Yr Old Buyer, January 07, 2003
