User Review(s)
"Unit does not work as advertised"
I have not been able to burn a home movie from my VHS player to DVD using the px-m402u without massively out-of-sync audio, through either the composite or S-video inputs. I've read many reviews and this is not an isolated problem by any means.

Further, I tried several other VHS tapes in excellent condition including some from my movie collection and some that are positively not macrovision encoded. No luck despite having a more than adequate computer (2.4 gig cpu), high-end video card, installing every single Plextor or InterVideo patch or update, insuring I had all Microsoft driver update, etc. In fact I've tried every single suggestion Plextor has at their site to no avail including turning off my virus and firewall protection - something I hate to do. I even un/re-installed everything just to be sure nothing was corrupted - again no luck.

Many of the reviews from various sites experienced the same thing, and it appears Plextor is simply going to let us be mad as they have no fix and refuse to reimburse us.

I have two Plextor burners (708 and 716) and find them good products but, Plextor has a lemon here. I'd "hoped" I would be one of the buyers who did not get the sync problem but luck was not with me. I don't feel Plextor should be selling a product with known issues and such a high failure rate in this regard. I was on duty out of town when the unit arrived and now it's to late to return to the net seller for a refund. Guess I have a new paperweight.
