What is this?
The Hi-Speed USB Cruzer goes back to non-removable 256MB flash memory, improving overall performance and omitting the Secure Digital slot found on its predecessor.

"SANDISK SUCKS" I bought one about 2 years ago in best buy. It was great, I even dropped in water that froze, found it a week later and still worked fine. Now 2 years have passed like one day and my sandisk still lights up green in the back, pretends to be alive. IT is not though, it sucks. I hit it a few times and the light dieed. It was like a terminator for entire 2 years, and finally gave up. I' m waiting for the next generation. From MATT, May 05, 2005
"Junk" Some of you had it last 2 to 3 months. Mine lasted a whole 5 minutes.Have used other products like Acer which are light years ahead of Sandisk.
Would suggest Sandisk take this one off the market. I had to return the product all the way back to USA for replacement which took ages.I have received replacement which hopefully won't expire so quickly. From D.Barnard, March 01, 2005
"Mine died too" Obviously theres been a few problems with this pen drive. At first it just caused a crash whenever i tried to encrypt/unencrypt any files i tried. Now it just isn't working at all, the drive has gone completely useless and cannot even be formatted again. Not reccomended by me anyway. I can see by previous reviews, i'm not the only one too. "Dead" I loved this drive... until it died today! It worked a couple of days ago, but doesn't work today... The light doesn't come on... the computer doesn't even know it is there. Same result in a second computer.
I'm kicking myself for not backing it up more often! I know I don't have copies of everything that was on it.
And no, it wasn't "user error". I was a good boy and stopped the drive each time before removing it. And it wasn't abused. It just quit working... totally and without warning.
Flakey is flakey... just because yours hasn't died yet doesn't mean it isn't going to! Mine worked perfectly for 4 months. From Bill, January 11, 2005
"Good price and good value for the money" I have been using the 512Mb version for several weeks now and have not had any of the problems some have listed here. It works fine in win98 with additional drivers, works in ME and XP flawlessly. I only wish there was a driver out there for NT.
It maybe a little slower than other flash drives out there as some have claimed, but the low price more than offsets the alleged speed difference.
BTW I wouldn't recommend reading any review printed in all caps or full of four-letter words (or three letters and an '*' ;->).
If it can't be said in plain english I just assume it isn't true or the critic isn't clever enough to understand the product.
Just my 2 cents worth... after taxes From Morningfeather, January 07, 2005
"Didn't work on XP on Dell Latitude 300" This did not work for me on XP. Does anyone know something that will? What is the best one out there? This one would put the drive on (when you look at explorer) for about 3 seconds and then disappear. They sold this to me and said it work work out of the box (NO WAY). I am on a Dell latitude D800 running XP. Don't use this if you have the same setup. From Rich Joseph, December 10, 2004

"Does work in Win98" OK - I'm the one that sent it through the wash and this is a follow-on comment - I WAS able to get in working in Win98 - but it takes following all of the instructions at the Sandisk site and setting up the driver yourself after you get it downloaded and extracted. Not as "user friendly" in setting it up for Win98 SE - but it does work if you have some computer background... From Wes2, October 17, 2004
"Like Timex - takes a licking and keeps on ticking" I left this in my pocket - so it went through the wash. After a "drying" period, I plugged it in, and it is still working - data still there from before the wash. It was a front load washer as well - a little rougher than what Sandisk expected it to see when they built it I bet.
True - I'm having trouble on Win98 - but all other OS systems are fine. From Wes, October 17, 2004
"had problems but may be user related" We have had problems but it may be user related. As an IT guy I always power down my PC and attached devices elegantly whereas some users just turn off the power bar!!
Our problems started with a Word.doc with a file size of '0' that, I think, got there by removing the Sandisk before writing was completed.
Anyway, it's a useful device and we see the need for getting more but we will likely buy another brand so a performance comparison can be made

"Great little disk!" I have absolutely no idea what you people are carrying on about! This disk worked great from day one, i did not need to update drivers, i did not need to uddate windows and i did not need to change my m'board settigs! I put it in wait about 5 seconds and it works! i have never had a problem. I highly recommend this pen disk for anyone who wants a reliable, small and easy to use means of transporting you important files. From Liam, October 12, 2004
