If you are tired of toting around all those battery chargers when you are on the go and don’t want to pay for a retail USB charger for those ubiquitous AA batteries here is a project for you. Over at Stefanv.com are step by step instructions on how to build your own USB powered battery charger for AA rechargables. So long at eh battery capacities are the same you can charge two AA NiMH or NiCd batts at about 470mA. The maker claims you can charge 700mAh NiCd batteries in about 1.5 hours and 2500mAh units in about 5.5 hours. The charger even cuts itself off based on cell temp. Pretty cool stuff.
