If your electric bills are as high as mine are you may be ready to do just about anything to reduce them to more reasonable levels. Onset has a new remote temperature monitoring system called the HOBO Temperature Logger Kit that you can place near the vents in your home to record temperature levels and how often the heat or AC comes on. You can also use the monitors to track temperature variance throughout your home as well as tracking temperatures in your refrigerator. Onset’s device is very small and battery powered making it wireless. You connect it to your PC after recording of data is done via USB and the included software maps the data for you on your system. You can find hot spots in your home or if one room simply isn’t getting the airflow it needs from your heating or cooling system. Using this data you may be able to spot problems in your home contributing to higher energy usage. This kit includes a HOBO U10 data logger and a copy of HOBOware Lite software in addition to the USB cable. Pricing is set at $79.
