I-O Data BRD-UM2/U Blu-ray USB Burner

Blu-ray burners are here, albeit at a huge price. The normal first generation jitters are also upon many early adopters trying to decide now if they should buy or wait a few months till prices come down and the drives are more refined. Perhaps, this review can help you decide.

Ecoustics has a reprint of a PC World review of the drive on their site with some tidbits about the I-O Data drive. PC World speed tested the drive and found that it would burn a full 22GB of data to a BD-R disk in 44 minutes, 27 seconds, and BD-RE took 97 minutes, 43 seconds for the same 22GB file. Writing data to CDs and DVDs is also supported with the drive, though at lower speeds than normal CD and DVD drives.
