  July 27th, 2006

USB-powered DVD Burner Does LabelFlashYou might be thinking, what's a portable DVD burner doing as news, that's old tech, isn't it just like other external drives like the HP DVD840e? Well this DVD burner brings something new and interesting to mobile geeks, in Japan anyway. Read on to find out what it is.

Journal.mycom.co.jp has some news about an I O Data external DVD burner, that sports the typical items you expect form a DVD burner such as dual layer burning and Labelflash, a disc labeling technology like HP's LightScribe. However, it also brings something new to the market as well, this drive is totally bus powered, though with lower burn speeds. When bus powered you can burn DVD+R/RW DL disks at 2x and DVD-R/RW/DL at 2x. When using the AC adapter burn speeds are DVD+-R DL 4x, DVD+-R 8x, DVD+RW 8x and DVD-RW 6x.
