IOGEAR Digital Scribes - USB Style

IOGEAR Digital Scribes - USB StyleSome people type faster than they write. Others write faster than they type or don't have access to a laptop, and need to spend money to overcome these shortfalls. Enter the IOGEAR Digital Scribes, allowing one to write and take doodles on any traditional piece of paper, then plug into a computer and have them converted to JPEG images or rich text via OCR. Annotation, highlighting, sticky notes, and timed reminders are also possible thanks to the included software. More after the jump.

The prototypes on display here at CES did a fairly good translation job with my speed text as you can see below, although I'm still unsure how it mistook a Z for an S since the two letters are clearly flipped.

Both a wired and wireless version are due to hit the market this quarter (the pen component is always wireless), and carry price tags of $50 and $130 respectively. The wireless version is powered by two AAA batteries.
