Iomega's Low-cost Missing Link between DivX and TV

Iomega's Low-cost Missing Link between DivX and TV

You may already have a perfectly good external hard drive storing your DivX and VOBs. Economically speaking, it makes no sense for you to shell out for something like the Iomega ScreenPlay HD or LaCie LaCinema Premier that has its own storage. Iomega ScreenPlay TV Link seems to be the missing link between DivX-cluttered USB hard drive to your TV.

In Iomega's own words, the $99 ScreenPlay TV Link is essentially the same from display technology to software interface as the aforementioned ScreenPlay HD. The drive-less TV Link can upscale 480i/p content to 720p/1080i; comes with high-def friendly HDMI and component; and AC3 Dolby Digital decoding. Media compatibility remains largely the same with MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI/VOB) and MPEG-2 (AVI, DivX 3-5, XviD). As long as you connect USB storage (including REV) that is formatted to NTFS, FAT32 or FAT, the ScreenPlay TV Link should have no problems playing back the content. This sort of media extender - smaller than a deck of playing cards - is priced just right in the current state of economy.
