Iomega UltraMax 640GB RAID 0 Plus USB HubMac users looking for a large storage capacity external HDD that complements the Mac Pro and Power Mac, Iomega, the makers of the XL RAID 1TB and the REV drive, has just announced the UltraMax 640GB external triple interface HDD that uses RAID 0 for top performance. An integrated USB hub also adds more ports for expansion. The drive is formatted with Mac HFS+, though with a reformat for NTFS or FAT32 it could be used by Windows as well. A switch allows users to turn off the RAID and use both internal disks as simple storage, each with its own drive letter.

Included backup software is EMC Retrospect Express. Compatibility is with Mac OSX 10.1 and higher on Apple systems with a G3 or higher, Intel CPU, USB hub or FireWire. Connectivity is via USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and FireWire 800.
