Iomega's 280GB USB REV Autoloader

If you're one of the one million REV disc owners, you may like to know Iomega has added a USB member to the REV family. The external REV autoloader can automate backup to 8 REV discs for a total capacity of 280GB raw or 560GB compressed. For those who no longer keeps track of Iomega news, REV is the company's last weapon for SOHO backup market; it boasts unlimited rewrite & random access.

The REV Loader 280, measuring merely at 7" tall and 5" wide, is bundled with BrightStor ARCserve that sends data to the USB drive at a rate of 25MB/s. This will serve well for our web server where we keep a week-long of daily backups. Though, what worries me is the cost. Each 4-disc REV pack retails for $170 street. To fill the $1499.99 8-disc REV Loader 280, the TCO is close to $1900. ouch...
