DON'T MISS
We've used full-sized electronic drum kits in the past, and been less than impressed with the results; we've found that the electronic kits don't react nearly as well as the real thing to the changing pressure of hits by an inexperienced drummer, and the result tends to be frustration and abandoned practice sessions. We confess an initial bias against ION's iED05 drum kit for this very reason, but after seeing the demo video from CES 2008, we might be ready to change our tune; ION mounted the drum kit on a waist-high display stand and neither the ION rep nor the video's hostess had any problems coaxing sounds out of the kit, or demoing the Windows-based tutorial and game programs that are meant to help drummers of all levels play better. While we're still a little skeptical - we'd like to see how well the kit performs when playing a more complex beat - the iED05 might just be a benefit to the student of the skins.
