Cheap, small camcorders have proven to be a big hit for people who like to shoot video that's easily uploaded to the computer for sharing online. The pioneer of the market was Pure Digital, with its Flip Mino camcorder. Pure Digital reportedly holds the majority of the camcorder market. With the Flip camcorder doing so well, most other manufactures are itching to get into the category. Even big electronics companies like JVC are getting into the category. JVC introduced its Everio high-end camcorder aimed at the YouTube user in May. Kodak is getting into the action now with the introduction of its Zi6 camcorder. The Zi6 is a tiny camcorder with a 2.4" LCD that looks very much like a cell phone lacking its keypad. The camcorder is able to capture HD quality video in 720p resolution at 60 fps. Recorded video is stored on SD/SDHC memory cards up to 32 GB. The swiveling USB plug conveniently concealed inside the camcorder allows uploading of video to a PC or YouTube to be done quickly and easily. The required software is built-in as well. Kodak ships the camcorder with a pair of pre-charged rechargeable AA batteries (or a pair of USBCell), unlike the Flip Mino's integrated rechargeable battery. The Zi6 - available in pink or black is in stock now for only $179. Kodak Zi6 (black)
