LaCie LaPlug USB NAS Succeeds PogoPlug Pro
LaCie has started heavily investing into cloud beginning with CloudBox and Wireless Space. The two solutions are decent except they go for as much as $200; they cost this much because of the integrated storage. LaCie's latest LaPlug on the other hand can turn any USB hard drives into a NAS and at the same time it can serve as a personal cloud server for data sharing over the Internet or wirelessly throughout the house. Most importantly, the drive-less LaPlug ships at $74.99, a consumer friendly pricing especially in times like these.

The LaCie LaPlug is technically a simple USB NAS adapter with one USB 2.0 port in the front and other three in the back. You could have three external drives always tethered to unit and the front port reserved for thumbdrives. There's also built-in a Gigabit connector and 2.4Ghz 802.11n so you can stream HD content to any UPnP / DLNA-certified TVs, gaming consoles or tablets. The most notable feature is the remote data access. Just like the PogoPlug, you can give your friends a custom URL that points back to your LaPlug at home for instant file sharing. Last but not least is Time Machine compatibility and centralized data backup. For those who miss WiFi-enabled PogoPlug Pro, LaCie LaPlug is worth a look.
