LaCie Spider Looks Like a 4-port USB Splitter
People who routinely use their laptops when away from their main office know the old maximum "do more with less" is all well and fine in theory, but the reality is "do more with more" is a heck of a lot easier. We know that there are many times when the typical notebook's two or three USB ports are simply not enough; yet a USB hub is to clunky to carry around in your bag. This is one scenario where the all new LaCie Spider 4 would be a great fit.

Unlike your typical four port hub, the Spider 4 is basically a 1 meter USB cable with a single USB A male port on one end and four USB A female ports on the other. This is made possible as couple inches back from the female ports, the cable branches off on to four "tails" with each tail having its own USB port. This certainly is ingenious as it combines the ease of portability of a cable (simple roll it up and stow in a bag) with the usefulness of a USB hub (it does have four ports after all). The only thing that could possible have made the LaCie Spider 4 even better, is if it was a USB 3.0 and not a USB 2.0 adapter. Then we could have seen the number of potential uses explode. As it stands the, Spider 4 with its MSRP of only $9.99 should still be very tempting many consumers as this price falls well within the bounds of impulse buy prices.
