LaCie d2 Blu-ray External Burner

LaCie is introducing a new external DVD burner that sports Blu-ray capabilities called the D2 Blu-ray Drive. The drive connects to your PC via either USB 2.0 or FireWire 400 and will write to both single layer 25GB Blu-ray discs as well as dual layer 50GB discs. The drive also supports writing to both CD’s and DVDs. Blu-ray burn speeds are: BD-R 2x and BD-RE 2x. All DVD types appear to burn at 8x with CD-R at 32x and CD-RW at 24x. LaCie also bundles Easy Media Creator 8.2 and CinePlayer 3.4 for Windows as well as Toast 7.1.1 Titanium for OS X. Availability seems to be mid November on reseller sites, but no mention of even the product is found on the LaCie site. I-O Data also makes a external Blu-ray drive with similar specs called the BRD-UM2/U.
