USB Laptop Speakers

It seems that unless you are willing to spend a veritable fortune on your laptop, the quality of sound that emanates from your typical laptop's stock speakers will simply fail to impress. This is why there's always a need for aftermarket speakers. This, of course, brings its own host of problems as most "desktop" speaker solutions are bulky, require their own power source and are about as portable as a large brick. This is why many peripheral companies have released laptop speakers. Notebook-centric speakers basically come in two main groups: "sound bars" which are small long speakers which best resemble a bar and sit in front of the laptop or behind it (e.g. Logitech Z305); and regular "two-piece" stereo speakers (e.g. Altec Lansing Orbit).
