Lexar's Enterprise-grade Thumbdrive (256-bit HW AES, PKI, Smart Card...)
January 5th, 2008Filed under USB Flash Drives
While it seems that the average consumers are covered with plenty of options to secure their flash drives, the businesses have been left out a little bit. Now that the IronKey is out, it is time for everyone else to kick it up a notch before they get left behind. Lexar knows this and to make sure they are doing it right they have teamed up with Gemalto to make one hell of a feature packed flash drive called the Smart Enterprise Guardian, or SEG for short. The SEG comes AES 256-bit hardware encryption, offers PKI services, and native support for Windows Vista. Unfortunately it is only available in 1GB and 2GB models. Perhaps what makes this excellent for businesses is the ability to remotely manage the device as needed. It would appear that the days of the standard flash drive are becoming limited and we are seeing the dawn of a new breed of flash drives, the multi-purpose smart USB device.
