Leyio's very capable, but not very popular wireless data sharing device is getting a firmware upgrade this week. This upgrade allows the Leyio, which already has USB host capability, to communicate with Apple's iPod. This is an expansion of its ability read USB drives directly. The Leyio has a USB host port and also has its own 2GB flash drive shuttle that is docked into its own bay on the drive. As if that plethora of data transfer options wasn't enough the Leyio's real claim to fame is its ability to use UWB wireless communication to trade songs between other Leyio PMPs. The Leyio also has the ability to protect your files with a fingerprint scanner. This new feature will likely only pull the audio files off the iPod but if it's DRM protected content you may get the file across but it may be encrypted and unplayable. All the other files that you have hoarded together in your own personal stockpile should transfer in and out fine. You also shouldn't have any have problems with any of the other types of files that you might be shuttling back and forth on your iPod. The Leyio can be found at various e-tailers for around $180 and the firmware upgrade should be available for download in a few more weeks. Video demo after the jump. About Everything USB
