Displaylink often found itself in the spotlight lately with their DL120 and DL160 USB video engine making the way into Samsung 940UX and now, LG FlatronWide L206WU. The 940UX has a max. res of 1280x1024 so it only needs the less powerful of the two ASICs whereas the bigger L206WU is a 16:10 20-incher with a top res of 1680x1050 so it requires the DL160. The latter has also received certification for Windows Vista, something that 940UX and rest of Displaylink-powered products will benefit later this year. Vista support basically guarantees full Aero 3D compatibility over multiple USB-connected displays. You're going to need this if you want to use live Aero 3D-excusive Flip 3D, Live Thumbnails and folder's visual clues. Hardware-wise, the $200 L206WU comes with DVI-D and VGA in addition to USB video interface; a retractable vertical stand that allows the monitor's height adjustment; and a swivel that allows screen orientation to change from horizontal to vertical and vice versa. Its built-in hub can double as daisy-chaining to other USB monitors or simply other USB gadgets. About Everything USB
