Logitec USB HDD Has Secret Compartment

  December 20th, 2006

Logitec (not Logitech) has a new external hard drive, called the Portable HD, that has an interesting feature. Rather than having to use the remove hardware wizard to safely remove the drive, you can simply use the eject button on the drive itself for safe removal. A special formatter is also used that allows users to make an invisible partition to save data to and only computers that have the special formatter will be able to access and read the data saved there. The drive is a 5400 RPM device and is available in 160 GB, 120 GB and 80 GB capacities. Logitec also claims that power requirements for this drive are reduced by 50% and that the metal case adds shock protection to the internal drive. Logitec was in the news earlier this year for their new USB bus powered DVD burner as well.
