There are two hot items with tech companies right now; going green or going secure. If they aren't doing one, they are doing the other. Maxtor's latest creation isn't aimed at going green, so we'll let you take a guess at what they are doing. Utilizing the Seagate Secure technology, the Maxtor BlackArmor provides government-grade AES hardware encryption to provide transparent, real-time protection for your external storage. The strikingly beautiful external drive will be available in a 2.5" 160GB capacity and is expected to be available in Q2 2008. MSRP for the drive is expected to be $149.99 and it will be bundled with their Maxtor Manager software suite to make automated back-ups and multiple computer synchronization a breeze and the Central Axis software to all the data to be accessed remotely. All of the encryption keys are stored on the device and as such makes it virtually impossible to hack or crack. Hopefully they will make the drive available in other sizes as well for those that can't be satisfied 160GB. This is quite similar to the Apricorn Aegis Vault drives, but without the options in capacities and not as stylish. About Everything USB
