McAfee Anti-Virus Barricades DiskOnKey

  March 28th, 2005

A USB flash drive plugged to an unknown PC is a risky move as virus of all kinds could infect data. M-Systems' Xkey, the first enterprise-grade flash drive to come with secure Outlook web access and anti-keylogger, now gets McAfee VirusScan, providing up-to-date anti-virus solution for employees working on the go. The addition of McAfee VirusScan is reportedly invisible to a user and has no impact on the device performance.

Once the device is inserted to the USB port, all files residing on the Xkey, as well as the host machine's memory will be automatically scanned. In addition, the user will receive automatic updates as McAfee posts new definitions online.

While McAfee solution is limited to Xkey for the time being, U3-compliant flash drives will also get this anti-virus protection when they debut middle of this year.
