Memorex M-Flyer Pilot Thumbdrive's USB Connector Goes Spring-loaded

  July 9th, 2007

Memorex recently announced the newest member to their TravelDrive family of USB drives. The M-flyer Pilot uses a unique spring-loaded, retractable USB connector. When not in use you simply push the connector into the drive body, when you need to access data on the drive you press the button and the connector pops out like a switchblade. The M-flyer is set for availability in July with a 4GB and a 2GB capacity available. Pricing is $79 for the 4GB and $49.99 for the 2GB version.

Both the drives are also enhanced for ReadyBoost according to Memorex and are cross-platform compatible for Windows, Mac and Linux. The pricing seems high to me considering this drive brings nothing new to the table other than a retractable, spring-loaded connector. SanDisk has been doing the retractable connector bit for a long time now on their Cruzer drives.
